No single photo size covers every application route

India Passport Photo Size Tool

Check where and how you are applying before choosing a crop.

Most ordinary applicants visiting a Passport Seva Kendra in India do not bring a photo.

Applying at a PSK or POPSK in India

Passport Seva states that the photograph is normally captured at the service centre. Applicants under four years old should carry a recent 4.5×3.5 cm photo with a white background. This page therefore starts with a 35×45 mm minor-reference crop, not a universal adult preset.

Applying through an Indian mission abroad

Overseas missions publish their own operational instructions. Many currently request a 2×2 inch ICAO-style photo, while other locations and services may differ. Use the selector to switch to 2×2 only after checking the mission serving your location.

Route check before crop

Choose the location, passport service and applicant age first. Do not rely on a search snippet that says “India passport size” without that context.

Photo quality remains important

Where a supplied photo is required, use a recent colour image, frontal view, natural appearance, clear focus, even lighting and a light or white background as specified by the responsible office.
